Why volunteer

Volunteering is hugely rewarding and allows you to connect to your community and support others by raising important funds. Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the people of Devon and help save lives! It’s a great way to give something back to your local community by sparing as little as one hour a week! Tell us what your interests and future aspirations are, and we’ll try and match you to the best role for you!

Where?

Plymouth: We are very fortunate to be allocated at least one slot per month in local supermarkets to shake a bucket, raise awareness and spend time with people in the community.  This role can be simply supporting on the day (Supermarket Collector) or more involvement with the planning and administration (Collections Co-ordinator).

What activities

Collections are held across the county throughout the year, so there’s bound to be one near you – the hours are flexible too (2-4 hour shifts / mostly weekends). Supermarket collections are a very simple way to raise valuable funds and a couple of hours of your time can make a big difference to the people of Devon.  All you have to do is stand with a bucket, smile and watch the coins come your way! Its a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of new people, including other volunteers, and to help raise awareness and vital funds.

In addition, Co-ordinators support us with planning, organising and facilitating fundraising collections at supermarkets. Supporting recruitment and organisation of volunteers to carry out collections. Ensuring income from collections is correctly recorded and banked. Encouraging and welcoming a diverse group of new members and supporters into DAA and helping to drive our One Crew ethos. Liaising with the Fundraising Community Team to ensure that all activities are carried out safely and within DAA guidelines.
