Devon Heli Hike 2025 is set to be our biggest and most ambitious fundraising event yet! This challenging 14 or 26 mile hike will take participants through Devon’s most breathtaking landscapes, from rolling hills to stunning coastal paths. It’s a test of endurance, but it’s all in the name of saving lives and we need an incredible team of volunteers to support our walkers every step of the way.

When

Saturday, 5 July 2025

We anticipate needing our first volunteers from 6:00am, with the final shifts wrapping up around 8:00pm.  Each shift is expected to last between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your role and location along the route.

Where

Staddon Lane, Jennycliff, Plymouth, PL9 9SP

Volunteer roles

Route Marshalls – Cheer on walkers, guide them along the route, and ensure everyone stays safe.

Water Station Crew – Keep participants hydrated and motivated at key checkpoints.

Important info

You may be required to stand for extended periods, depending on your role. Some sections of the route will be remote, uneven, and exposed to the elements – while it’s hard to predict British weather, July can bring hot and sunny days, so please keep all of the above in mind when signing up.

A full event briefing will take place prior to the event.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering, even for just a few hours, has a powerful effect, not just on those you’re supporting, but on your own wellbeing too. Giving your time to a cause like Devon Air Ambulance fosters a sense of purpose and connection, boosting self-esteem and reducing stress.

By joining us at Devon Heli Hike 2025, you’ll be part of a positive, uplifting experience, surrounded by like-minded people, fresh air, and an incredible atmosphere. It’s a chance to step away from daily routines, meet new friends, and make a real difference, all while cheering on walkers as they take on their challenge. Your energy and encouragement will keep participants motivated, your presence at water stations will keep them going, and at the finish line, you’ll see first-hand the impact of your support.

Even one day of volunteering strengthens community spirit, inspires others, and helps create lasting change. Whether you volunteer solo, with family, or as part of a team, you’ll leave with new memories, a huge sense of achievement, and the knowledge that you’ve played a part in saving lives.

  • Be part of something special, our biggest challenge yet
  • Meet fellow volunteers, staff and walkers, and share an unforgettable experience
  • Take in some of the most stunning scenery in Devon
  • Gift a little time, big impact!
  • Helps us raise vital funds to save lives, one step at a time

This event is a huge moment for us, and we need every pair of hands possible to make it a success. This is a fantastic opportunity to invite friends, family and colleagues to get involved and support DAA! There’s no long-term commitment, just a chance to be a part of something special for a great cause.
