Save lives one step at a time when you take part in the Devon Heli Hike: our 2025 walking challenge!

Whether you join us for 14 miles or 26, you can expect a challenging but stunning route! You can also look forward to meeting new friends along the way and enjoying some of Devon’s most beloved historic and natural sights and sites. All hard work is rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the South Devon coast.

The terrain

The route consists of grass, gravel and rocky paths as well as stretches of road underfoot – all features typical of one of the most beloved parts of the country for walkers. There are places of uneven ground – stairs, steps and stiles to navigate, so please watch your footing. There are also plenty of fantastic spots to pause, refresh, and enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of the country!

And don’t worry! Marshalls will be positioned along the route and the route will be well marked.

Starting location, routes and elevation

Starting bright and early you will head out from Jennycliff Car Park and head inland, where there is free parking and our support team will be on hand to direct you.

For both routes you will first head inland and enjoy the rolling hills of the countryside, before following the estuary and eventually heading back to the coast to join the South West Coast Path. The route is circular, so you will start and finish at the same location. Stewards will be strategically located along the route to support you in your challenge!

The Routes

With some significant elevations, the challenge isn’t a walk in the park: it will be tough, but it will also be rewarding! Review the route map.

Elevation

There are areas of challenging elevation around the route, particularly along the South West Coast Path. Please take your time on these sections and remember to stop to enjoy the views! Bring plenty of refreshments to keep you topped up!

– 14 Mile Route 1,884ft total elevation
– 26 Mile Route  3,940 ft total elevation

Once signed up you will receive your event pack which includes your maps, elevation graphs, kit lists and all the helpful information you will need both ahead of and during the event.

More detailed information will follow in your Event Pack once you’ve signed up!

I can’t wait to support the Heli Hike challenge! The Devon Coastal path and the inland route is stunning! And what better reason to sign up than to support a charity that serves the very communities we will be hiking through?!
