Why pledge to leave a legacy?

One in 3 of our missions are funded by legacy gifts, helping us to plan ahead for the service.

Making a legacy pledge is one of the most impactful ways you can support Devon Air Ambulance.

When there is so much to think about day-to-day, naturally, many of us find it challenging to even conceive of a future that we’re not involved in. But legacy planning requires us to do just that.

While it’s important to get one’s house in order – and assets more generally, and to consider those who may inherit our estate, it’s also a good opportunity to think about how we might wish to make an impact more broadly following one’s death.

Even if you leave 99% of your estate to your family and as little as 1% to Devon Air Ambulance, that gift can make a monumental difference to our patients. By making a legacy pledge, you are not only contributing to the immediate needs of the charity but also securing our future. Here’s why your legacy matters.

A lifeline for the community

Devon Air Ambulance provides critical emergency medical services to people in need, often in remote and hard-to-reach areas. We operate two helicopters and a fleet of critical care cars to ensure the expert medical care of our crew reached patients facing time-critical situations.

Your legacy pledge can help us not only to maintain but enhance these vital resources, ensuring that they are always available to improve the outcome for our patients.

Cardiac arrest, broken bones, young and old, rural and urban, our work takes us all across the beautiful county of Devon. Last year, we completed over 2,000 missions, and 1 in 3 of those was funded by legacies left directly to us in our supporters’ Wills.

Your pledge could help support innovation and continued exce

Clinicians at Devon Air Ambulance also undertake important research about how to improve the outcome of medical interventions and access the continually evolving medical technology and practices.

By leaving a legacy gift, you enable Devon Air Ambulance to invest in the latest medical equipment and training for our crew. This commitment to innovation ensures that patients receive the best possible care, increasing their chances of recovery and survival.

Leaving a legacy in your Will is an incredibly thoughtful gift and will help provide the best possible outcome for our patients, now and in the future. These wonderful gifts are left by our caring and considerate supporters, who have taken time to think about our patients of tomorrow and we’re grateful to them.

A personal connection

Devon Air Ambulance is the beneficiary of thousands of supporters who may never require our service, nevertheless, they know that we are there to help them or a loved one in a time of need.

Of course, many of those who support us already have a personal connection to Devon Air Ambulance through knowing someone we have helped. To them, leaving a legacy is a way to honour that connection and make a lasting impact. In either case, such gifts are a testament to your values and a way to be remembered for your generosity and commitment to the community.

Inspiring future generations: how to leave a legacy

Leaving a legacy is straightforward. You can include Devon Air Ambulance in your Will, specifying the sum or percentage of your estate you wish to donate. It’s a simple process, but one that makes a profound difference. Read more about how to leave a gift or make a pledge.

In 2024, we were tasked to 2,459 missions, 819 of these were funded by gifts in Wills. By making a pledge to leave a legacy for Devon Air Ambulance, you are ensuring that our vital service continues to save lives and support the community. Your generosity will have a lasting impact for those in need.

Your legacy can inspire others to give

When people see the difference that legacy pledges make, they are more likely to consider leaving their own. This creates a ripple effect, ensuring that Devon Air Ambulance has the support it needs for years to come.
