Get ready to enjoy one of Devon’s most scenic and rewarding cycle rides.
2026 is the first year of this exciting new Devon Air Ambulance fundraiser. The Devon Air Ambulance Cycle Challenge is the perfect day out for anyone who loves being outdoors on two wheels. If you’re a confident cyclist you can really challenge yourself, or you might prefer a sociable weekend ride – just choose your own level of challenge.
Ride your chosen route
Choose the distance that suits you and your riding style. Both routes take you through rolling Devon countryside, offering sweeping views, fresh air, and plenty of moments to soak up the scenery. Whether you’re aiming for a personal challenge or looking forward to a laid‑back pedal with friends, there’s a route to match your pace. Choose from one of three fantastic routes:
- Explorer (30 Mile) – Ease back into the saddle with this relaxed, beginner-friendly route. Designed for those who’ve taken it a little lighter on training. Enjoy a short, scenic loop at a comfortable pace.
- Heroic (50 Mile) – Built for riders who’ve put in the work, this mid-distance route is your chance to put those training miles into practice. Get ready for great roads, good company, and that unbeatable finish-line feeling.
- Legend (100 Mile) – This is the big one! A test of endurance, strength, and pacing. Longer miles, tougher climbs, and stretches where you may need to dig deep. If you’re looking to challenge yourself – this is the one for you!
A day of enjoyment and personal challenge
The Devon Air Ambulance Cycle Challenge is all about having fun while doing something that makes a meaningful difference. Take your time, chat with fellow riders, enjoy the landscape, and experience the buzz of being part of a great community.
The 100-mile route takes cyclists up to an elevation of over 300 meters across East Devon and over the Blackdown Hills in an expansive figure 8, heading out past Ottery St Mary and on towards Fivehead, returning via Corfe, Hemyock, Cullompton and Broadclyst before returning to the Clyst St mary start point.
The 50+ mile route takes cyclists from the Winslade park start point in a large loop, culminating at Churchinford, before looping back via bradninch towards Winslade with a peak elevation of around 300 meters incorporating the Blackdown Hills.
The 30-mile short route loops up to Ottery St Mary, back through Bradninch and Clyst Honiton before returning to the start point in Clyst St Mary.
