The Devon Air Ambulance’s ambitious fundraising drive to raise £10,000 in three days got a great kickstart with a £2,500 donation from Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

Robert Venner, Partner at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, handed over the funds at the start of this year’s Devon County Show.

Robert said:

GTH, as a firm, with our roots embedded in the countryside, sees the Devon Air Ambulance as a vital charity to call upon in many circumstances to save numerous casualties.

It gives us great pleasure to support their worthy efforts.

The charity relies entirely on support from local and business communities to keep the service running and receives no financial support from the Government.

Devon Air Ambulance paramedic and helicopter crew members volunteered at the three-day Devon County Show to help raise awareness of the charity’s lifesaving work.

Awareness-raising has become all the more necessary during a challenging time with fundraising events halted due to Covid and income from shops ceasing as lockdowns kept them closed. The Devon County Show was the first public-facing fundraising opportunity since the first 2020 lockdown.

A member of the Devon Air Ambulance team at the show said:

This year we are expecting an even busier summer than usual. With many of us keen to get out and about after a long lockdown, our crews have already seen an increase in missions since restrictions eased.

In 2020 Devon Air Ambulance Critical Care teams assisted in 1,507 missions with Sunday being the busiest day and July the busiest month. Summer post-lockdown is already proving to be one of the busiest summers for the charity

If you would like to continue to support our life-saving work then we welcome your regular or one off donation.
